The Interstate 55 Bridge over the Mississippi River will close Sunday, June 9, for two weeks.

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close the bridge through Sunday, June 23, for construction on the I-55 and Crump Boulevard interchange project. The closure will allow the crews to do a hydro-demolition of the bridge deck and provide a polymer concrete overlay, according to TDOT.

I-55 southbound will be closed at Bridgeport Road in West Memphis, Arkansas, while I-55 northbound will be closed at South Parkway in Memphis.

New I-55 bridge construction could last through 2030

Local traffic will be allowed to continue to the McLemore exit.

The I-55 southbound ramp and Crump Boulevard westbound will also be closed.

The construction is weather permitting, according to TDOT.
