Tax revenue from xAI projected to double

Shelby County government is projecting xAI could pay almost $28 million in property taxes as its second Memphis data center comes onto the tax rolls.
The Shelby County assessor’s office provided the artificial intelligence company’s tax estimate to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners on Saturday, March 7, at the body’s budget retreat.
The presentation shows xAI’s projected contribution to county funds could grow by 122%. XAI paid $12,512,756.12 in 2025 property taxes Feb. 27, according to the county trustee’s website.
