The AM/DM podcast: Do I have to pay my traffic ticket?

There are more than 225 traffic cameras around Memphis, including 30 that were installed in school zones last September.

The cameras catch people speeding or running red lights and then those people — or the owners of the car they were driving — get citations in the mail.

But if a driver gets a traffic camera ticket, do they really have to pay it? That was the question in this week’s Ask the Memphian, and reporter Jody Callahan ran down the answer.

Spoiler alert, in many cases, it’s no. But it also depends on the circumstances of your ticket and how risk-averse one might be.
