The AM/DM podcast: Poplar Plaza’s experiment in the experiential

Poplar Avenue and Highland Street has been a landmark corner for years, in part due to Poplar Plaza’s second-floor exterior facade. 

Longtime Memphians may remember a giant Elvis — in gold lamé — in the window when the space housed the Spin Street record store — or more recently, promotional University of Memphis graphics. 

Now the owners of Poplar Plaza are taking a new strategy with leasing for the shopping center, something they are calling dwell time. 

Commercial real estate reporter Andy Ashby is here to talk about what exactly they are trying to do and why.
