For a time, it felt like Memphis’ brew pubs and taprooms were the answer to various questions.

Like, where do you want to go tonight? Where can I get a decent beer? Where can you play trivia and meet up with friends? Or bring your kids and let them play games while you chill?

But, the golden era of local breweries, at least in Memphis, may be over.

In the past two years, Memphis has seen several local breweries pull back their operations or close completely. The most recent was Crosstown Brewing Co., which closed a few weeks ago, after eight years in operation.

Joining us today to talk about the state of the local beer scene is food and dining reporter Sophia Surrett.
