Strickland to name police reform commission in second phase of ‘reimagining’ police
Following other recent moves toward police reform, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland has announced the creation of a police reform commission. In the above photo, Strickland is pictured attending a US Census press conference August 17, 2020, at City Hall. (Mark Weber/Daily Memphian)
Word of the commission comes the same week that a federal task force shot and wounded a teenager while serving a warrant in a case of mistaken identity.
