City Council backs health directive, considers taking pay cut
“Our hope is to be able to bring the general population to understand we have done this before,” Dr. Manoj Jain, an adviser to the city on the pandemic and infectious disease expert, said of the latest health directive. “We can flatten the curve, and the beauty is this is the last time we will have to flatten the curve. The vaccine is here.” (Jim Weber/Daily Memphian file)
The council action wasn’t unanimous and it follows a split vote the day before by the Shelby County Commission expressing support for the countywide directive that takes effect the day after Christmas.
