City’s attorney won’t issue opinion on mayoral residency requirement
Memphis chief legal officer Jennifer Sink (middle) will not issue her own legal opinion on whether the five-year residency requirement spelled out in the Memphis City Charter should be enforced. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian file)
The lack of official opinion from Sink won’t help clear up any of the existing ambiguity about the residency requirement, which could upend the 2023 Memphis mayoral race.
