Experts prosecutors plan to call at trial for officers charged in Nichols’ death
U.S. District Judge Mark Norris, who is presiding over the case, ruled Jan. 24 that expert testimony could be used following a hearing on an earlier filing from Michael Stengel, who represents Demetrius Haley, challenging that they could do so. (Jim Weber/The Daily Memphian file)
Those experts include current and former MPD officers who may speak to MPD’s use-of-force policies and training programs as well as how the actions of the officers the night of Nichols’ death allegedly violated those standards.
