Attorneys for the City of Memphis alleged Friday, Nov. 15, that the mother of Tyre Nichols’ son received $400,000 from attorneys representing Nichols’ mother for relinquishing her right to administer his estate, according to a new court filing.
The filing also claims the woman, Morgan Jackson, said in a deposition that Nichols was physically abusive toward her.
A statement from the Wells’ family civil legal team disputed the source of the payments and said they were made by private citizens via GoFundMe. It also denounced the city’s move to publicize information from the depositions.
