Fired city court clerk wants City Council to reinstate her

Earlier this year, two of the city’s three municipal court judges fired City Court Clerk Sukita Johnson, allegedly over perceived deficiencies in her job performance.
Shortly after that April 7 decision by Judges Varonica Cooper and Kenya Hooks, Johnson appealed her firing, arguing that the two judges overstepped their authority.
Now, Memphis City Council will have the final say in whether Johnson keeps her job, although it is unclear if a hearing has been scheduled.
