Charters could buy schools below-market under proposed bill
State Rep. Ryan Williams, R-Cookeville, is cosponsoring a bill along with Sen. John Stevens, R-Huntingdon, that gives charters the right of first refusal when public school districts sell vacant or underutilized property. The bill doesn’t force districts to sell buildings when they don’t want to. But when they do want to sell, it would force them to sell for less then the property is worth.
