Last month, members of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools board voted to close five schools to district students. The campus closures, which take effect at the end of the school year, will upend educational experiences for students and workplace cultures for their teachers at: 

  • Chickasaw Middle in Westwood 
  • Frayser-Corning Elementary in Frayser
  • Georgian Hills Elementary in Frayser
  • Ida B. Wells Academy in South Memphis 
  • Lucy Elementary in Millington
