City Council to take final vote on partisan primaries
The ballot question, proposed by council member Martavius Jones, reads: “Elections for the offices of mayor and Memphis City Council members shall be partisan, such that political parties may nominate candidates for the office of mayor and Memphis City Council members by using the primary election provision of the Tennessee Election Code or as otherwise authorized by the rules of the party.” (The Daily Memphian fie)
The ballot question would be the second amending the city charter in this election year. Also on the budget are Memphis Area Transit Authority funding and the city’s blight problem.
