Can Gloria Johnson turn Tennessee blue?
The Democratic nominee for one of Tennessee’s two U.S. Senate seats says Tennessee is not really a red, or Republican, state even though Democrats haven’t won a statewide race for governor or Senate in 18 years.
Gloria Johnson, a state representative from Knoxville, is challenging Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn in the Nov. 5 statewide race.
It’s a challenge based on the belief Republican elected and political leaders, including Blackburn, have become too extreme for even conservative Tennessee voters.
