MPD officers at fault for half of officer-involved crashes so far in 2025

Fewer than 50 days into 2025, Memphis Police Department officers had been involved in more than 50 crashes.
And half of them were an officer’s fault, according to department data.Â
Of the 52 officer-involved wrecks through Feb. 16 — before winter weather struck Memphis for a second time in 2025 — officers were responsible for 26 of them, according to MPD data.
