Former U.S. Attorney Kevin Ritz announced the indictment of Vincent Grant and two others in the gang-related 2019 murder of Tim Johnson in 2024. Since then, Ritz was elevated to the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by then-President Joe Biden. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian file)

They also said it was the first case brought under a 2023 Biden administration program called the Violent Crime Initiative.
