Man arrested for allegedly bringing gun into 201 Poplar
A man has been arrested for allegedly bringing a gun into the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center, also known as 201 Poplar, on Wednesday, June 25. (The Daily Memphian file)
Video shows the man, who was in a wheelchair, being checked with a metal detector wand by a security officer before being waved through the checkpoint.

Once an intern, he never left, joining the staff full-time in 2022 as an education reporter. He moved to public safety in 2023, where he covered some of the city’s biggest court cases, including the criminal trials for those charged in the deaths of Tyré Nichols and rapper Young Dolph.
