Coronavirus: Shelby County averaging 447 new cases per day

From July 28 through Aug. 3, Shelby County has averaged 447 new reported COVID-19 cases, according to the Shelby County Health Department.
In that same time period, new cases reported ranged from 269 to more than 500; deaths reported ranged from none to six.
The Shelby County Health Department reported 382 new novel coronavirus cases on Wednesday, Aug. 4 and two new coronavirus-related deaths. There are 4,383 active cases reported.
Shelby County is now 60% of the way to the goal of vaccinating 700,000 residents against COVID-19; 420,022 people have been vaccinated.
According to the Health Department, an average of 1,480 COVID-19 vaccinations per day have been administered from July 28 to Aug. 3.
As of 5 p m. July 29, there were 279 COVID patients in area hospital beds. Eighty-one of those patients were in area intensive care unit beds; 198 were in acute care beds.
At that time there were 27 available ICU beds and 151 available acute care beds.
And, 94% of acute care beds and 93% of ICU beds were in use.
