Memphis-area workforce board boots director, appoints interim
The board that oversees federal workforce development funds and programs in Memphis voted on Wednesday, Nov. 13, to remove its director, Amber Covington, citing the results of an investigation.
The Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board voted 6-2 to terminate Covington after returning from a closed session that board Chair Meka Egwuekwe said included details of the investigation and findings.
Four board members abstained from the vote.
No allegations or findings were made public at the board’s meeting.
