Officials seeks public comment on xAI air permit
“An air permit as it’s issued through the Clean Air Act does not mean a project is healthy or of benefit to the public interest,” said Dr. Michelle Taylor, Shelby County Health Department director. “It only means that that air permit application meets the legal requirement to pollute the environment.” (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian file)
As local groups push against xAI’s turbines as part of a fight against pollution, the Health Department director said she will schedule a public hearing on the permit for the company’s Southwest Memphis plant.
