Heart to heart: How a Memphis man’s diagnosis started his fight against silent suffering

In 2018, Marlon Qualls Jr. was an ordinary student at Oakhaven High School, grappling with the loss of his beloved grandmother, finding himself sinking into grief and depression.

What he did not know at the time was that his emotional trauma was turning into a health crisis, one that would nearly cost him his life and eventually transform him into a passionate advocate for men’s health.

For months, Qualls experienced alarming symptoms but remained silent about them.
