Calkins: Fred Jones and the Southern Heritage Classic should be a lesson for us all
Fred Jones paid for the first Southern Heritage Classic out of his own pocket, creating a tradition that has lasted 30 years.

Memphis didn't support the Southern Heritage Classic 30 years ago. It did support a giant boondoggle. As the Classic celebrates its anniversary, there's a lesson to be learned.
