Seeking faster criminal courts, Sen. Brent Taylor requests AG opinion
“By prosecuting criminal cases quickly, we will remove violent and repeat criminal offenders from the streets of Memphis so that the law-abiding can raise their families in peace and safety,” Sen. Brent Taylor wrote in his letter to Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti. (Ziggy Mack/Special to The Daily Memphian file)
If the state attorney general says Gov. Bill Lee has the power to temporarily assign judges from around Tennessee to handle criminal cases in Shelby County, Taylor will request he do so “immediately.”
