Tennessee deputy governor to leave Lee administration

The deputy governor to Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee will leave the administration later this year, Lee announced Friday, June 6.
Deputy Gov. Butch Eley is also Lee’s commissioner of transportation. Eley led the state toward an agreement with the State of Arkansas and the federal government to jointly fund a new Interstate 55 bridge across the Mississippi River at Memphis.
“I’m taking a breath and giving thoughtful consideration to my next steps and what that might look like,” Eley said in a press release announcing his departure after a transition. “I’ve always believed in the power of service — and that belief is stronger than ever.”
