State senator to introduce legislation targeting school board member who supported Lindsey Whiteside
“If somebody of authority goes to a judge and says, ‘Please be lenient on this person; I’ve known him to be a good person,’ that’s one thing,” state Sen. Michael McLendon said. “But when that person who is also in authority writes a letter and mentions their authority, puts it on letterhead that shows their authority and still asks for leniency when it was a crime against a child, that’s a real big issue.” (Rogelio V. As the federal trial for Lindsey Whiteside is delayed by a month, a DeSoto County state senator is seeking legislation targeting officials who vouched for the former youth pastor charged with sexual battery with a minor.
