Malco Theatres' latest location will have an interesting amenity: in-theater food delivery.

Powerhouse Cinema Grill, at 540 S. Front St., features seven screens and luxury recliners with reserved seating. It's the debut of Malco’s branded large-screen MXT “Extreme” Theatre, with a full-service restaurant with wood-burning brick pizza oven and full bar.

The theater opened March 7.

The location has been in the works for more than three years and required approval from the state’s Historic Preservation Office and the Federal Transit Administration.

It is part of the larger Henry Turley Co. and Community Capital’s $55 million redevelopment of Central Station, which includes an expanded Amtrak station, 200 new apartments and a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel.

Powerhouse Cinema is Malco’s first Downtown location in more than 40 years. It will be the first Downtown movie theater location since Muvico closed its Peabody Place location in 2008.
