At 25, Andrea left Venezuela and moved to Memphis, where her uncle is a mechanical engineer. She applied to work as a waitress, in retail and in day care, and each place told her she was over-qualified. Finally, in 2015, she took a job at Church Health.

Benjamin L. Hooks Library hosts first naturalization ceremony since 2020
Seventy-nine people from more than 30 countries were sworn in as U.S. citizens at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library Friday morning, July 15, in the first naturalization ceremony held there since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
