Opinion: A center combats bias among Shelby County decision-makers

Terrence O. Reed is the vice president of the Center for Excellence in Decision-Making. He is also an adjunct professor teaching fair employment practices at the University of Memphis law school, the president of the local chapter of the American Inns of Court, and managing director of employment litigation for FedEx Express.
A few local, socially conscious judges acknowledged institutional problems with unconscious bias, and they spearheaded the founding of the Center for Excellence in Decision-Making.
