The Memphis Grizzlies signed guard Jaylen Nowell to a second 10-day contract on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Nowell is averaging 6.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in five appearances for the Grizzlies this season. He started the game on Saturday against the Phoenix Suns and served as the team’s sixth man in two previous games.

Memphis originally signed Nowell to a 10-day hardship contract on Nov. 24.

The second hardship contract will delay a decision the team will eventually have to make about his long-term future with the team.

Memphis is missing backcourt players Marcus Smart (foot sprain), Luke Kennard (knee soreness) and Ja Morant (league suspension). Memphis has also held 35-year-old Derrick Rose out of games on the second night of a back-to-back.

The team announced Sunday that Kennard is expected to return within 2-3 weeks from his left knee bone bruise.

The Grizzlies are scheduled to take on the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. CT.

Morant will be available to return on Dec. 19 at the New Orleans Pelicans.
