Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, just three games after returning from a 25-game suspension to begin the season.
Morant averaged 28.0 points, 9.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game last week over three games against the New Orleans Pelicans, Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks.
The Grizzlies went 3-0 in those games after beginning the season 6-19 without Morant.
Morant scored a game-winning buzzer beater in his return game against New Orleans on national television. Over the last three games, Memphis has transformed into the top paint-scoring team in the NBA.
Other nominees included Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Minnesota guard Anthony Edwards, Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, Lakers forward LeBron James and Kings forward Domantas Sabonis.
