Matt Riser’s second year as the Memphis baseball coach is off to a much better start than his first season.
The Tigers have won both of their three-game series against Southeast Missouri and Valparaiso to start the year with a 4-2 record. Memphis only won two of its first six games last season.
Memphis had a chance to sweep Valparaiso at FedEx Park on Sunday but fell 5-3. It was the first win of the season for the Beacons (1-5).
