Former Illinois tight end Lou Dorsey to visit U of M

Former Illinois tight end Lou Dorsey will visit the University of Memphis next weekend.

Dorsey announced he'd transfer from Illinois in October after he was suspended for spring football and the first three games of the season for separate violations of team rules. He did not register a stat during the 2018 season.

The 6-foot-6 tight end caught 22 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns in 2017. That was good enough to be named a's All-Freshman team in 2017, and a preseason Mackey Award Watch List for the 2018 season. The award is given to one of the top tight ends in college football.

Starting tight ends Joey Magnifico and Sean Dykes are entering their senior seasons for head coach Mike Norvell.  Dorsey will play for Iowa Western Community College during the 2019 season before enrolling in whatever school he chooses in December.

The independent 247Sports Rankings slot Dorsey as the No. 1 overall tight end in the junior college ranks.  The Tigers class of 2020 holds one commitment so far – Kaylan Grandberry who is the No. 1 junior college running back in the same rankings.
