LeMoyne-Owen names new athletic director

Roderick Smothers Jr. was introduced Thursday, July 2, as the new director of athletics at LeMoyne-Owen College, succeeding William Anderson, who served two tenures in the role.
Smothers, who began his new post effective Wednesday, July 1, previously served as the director of athletics at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas, and assistant athletic director for ticketing at Alabama A&M University.
He succeeds Anderson, who served his first tenure for the Magicians from 2008 to 2013 and his second in 2021.
