It’s been too long since Memphis Grizzlies fans have seen, heard and felt postseason hoops. Whatever comes next, everyone invested in the enterprise needed this. 

The Memphis Showboats were only down by five at halftime, but were shut out in the second half at Michigan.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 24 points and Ja Morant and Desmond Bane added 22 each as the Grizzlies turned away several Dallas rallies in the second half.

Ja Morant did not practice on Thursday and will be a game-time decision for Memphis’ must-win game against the Dallas Mavericks. 

PJ Haggerty, now in the NCAA transfer portal, averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game this past season for the Memphis Tigers.

Zachary Davis — a 6-foot-7 defensive-minded wing — averaged 8.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.4 minutes per game as a junior for the Gamecocks in 2024-25.

Miles Nesmith is currently the nation’s No. 1 triple-jumper, thanks to a state-record leap of 51 feet, 5 inches set while competing at the Texas Relays in late March.

Standouts from Briarcrest, Collierville, Fayette-Ware, Houston, Hutchison and MBA named to all-state team.
