Did Parth Upadhyaya still rank the Tigers after back-to-back losses to South Florida and Tulane?

Here’s part two of a mammoth Mid-Season Grizzlies Mailbag. Last week’s part one covered a lot of territory.

So here we are again. We’ve arrived at the annual crisis point in the schedule. There’s talk of dysfunction, the execution is lackluster, and the defense has fallen off a cliff. Some familiar themes over the years.

Brady White started his college playing career at Arizona State, and now, he’s headed back. 

Under pressure, the No 10 Tigers faltered in an 81-79 loss to Tulane in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon to drop their second consecutive game.

The Memphis Grizzlies had a notable visitor at shootaround on Saturday morning at the United Center as the Grizzlies prepared to face the Chicago Bulls.

The Tigers played their first game at FedExForum since 2015, after icy roads forced the move Downtown from the University of Memphis campus.

The Tigers’ matchup with Tulane on Sunday represents an opportunity for the group to grab its seventh Quad II victory of the season and get back on track before things further unravel.

Brown averaged just 6.1 points and 3.9 rebounds to go with three total blocks and three total steals through the seven games he appeared in for the Tigers before his 11-game leave.

Saturday’s Memphis women’s basketball game against Florida Atlantic will be played at FedExForum due to winter weather impact on campus and at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Jordan Allen and Amare’ Boothe are both averaging more than 30 points per game.

“We have to play with that edge, home or away, and that togetherness. I thought (against Minnesota) it was really good. In the fourth quarter we had a little bit of slippage, but overall, I’m really impressed,” Taylor Jenkins said. 

After a month of mostly near-misses and too-close-for-comfort wins, the Memphis Tigers finally got caught.
