The Grizzlies, coming off two straight losses, including a blowout against the Nuggets, could see Morant on the court this weekend.

As part of the NBA’s anniversary legacy program, the Grizzlies brought a new dance studio and outdoor basketball court to the school.

The Grizzlies, who just dropped two on the road, are encouraged after Ja Morant’s 5-on-5 practice.

As head coach, Miller took MAHS, which is closing its doors, to the Class AA state quarterfinals in 2021.

If the team’s recent good luck and good management hold up, then the Grizzlies’ rock-solid foundation might make “this could be our year” a realistic, recurring mantra for the next decade. 

It will take work, but Vernard Watkins could well be the man to return Central’s boys basketball program to its 1981 and 1982 glory days.
