Japanese golf star Hideki Matsuyama – like Memphis – does not bluff
Hideki Matsuyama blasts the ball out of the bunker on the 16th hole during the second round of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational on Friday, July 26, 2019. Matsuyama, who's No. 32 in the World Golf Rankings, is "one the most popular Japanese athletes in all of sports," says golf writer Rex Kuramoto. (Houston Cofield/Special to The Daily Memphian)
Matsuyama is a blue-collar guy. He ate breakfast at Waffle House, drove a pickup truck to the course and changed shoes in the parking lot Friday at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
