E.C. Taylor looked right at home in the state where she'll be playing her college softball.

The St. Benedict standout, who has signed with Florida, bookended Tuesday's game against Lutheran South (Texas) with two big hits as the Eagles opened their season with a 6-5 victory. The game was played as part of a tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Taylor, who went 3 for 4 on the day, homered in the bottom of the first. The preseason MaxPreps all-American outfielder then walked it off with a triple in the bottom of the seventh.

Jessi Smith and freshman Neely Taylor each went 2 for 3 for the Eagles while Josie Gex picked up the win.

In other games, Millington rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Bartlett, 3-2. Kaitlyn McDonald tied the game with a two-run double before the winning run came home on an error. McDonald also went the distance to pick up the victory in the circle.

Charli Rice allowed just one earned run and struck out 12 as Tipton-Rosemark opened its season with a 5-4 victory over Munford. Abby West and Ryleigh Bowers each drove in two runs for the Rebels.

Houston's Hitt no-hits Brothers

Grayson Hitt was un-hittable against CBHS.

Ethan Burns and Sam Killebrew hit back-to-back run scoring singles to put Houston up 2-0 in the second before Eliezer Bueno drove in two more runs with a single in the fourth. Caleb Barger had a two-run homer in the fifth.

Houston's arch-rival, Collierville, also improved to 2-0 with a 6-1 victory over Covington. Jack Dougherty (five innings) and Zach Jackson combined to allow just an unearned run while Ty Leatherwood went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBI. Noah Hattier had two hits and drove in two runs.
