Herrington: What summer play said about Zach Edey, GG Jackson and other Grizzlies

The Grizzlies’ summer play ended in Las Vegas as it began in Salt Lake City: With an overtime loss.
In-between, a team featuring three new rookies and three or four others likely to be on the team’s extended 18-man regular-season roster mostly won, with lottery pick Zach Edey’s brief appearance whetting the appetite for more and with incumbents Scotty Pippen Jr. and GG Jackson stamping themselves as two of the season’s best players, each making First Team All Summer League in Las Vegas.
For a franchise that, unexpectedly, suffered so many losses last season, and maybe more so for the dedicated fans who actually tuned in over the past week and change, the Grizzlies’ highly entertaining summer play was a kind of oasis, a place to recharge, to remind yourself how fun the game can be, with the promise of more fertile lands ahead.
