The Memphis Grizzlies issued a news release Saturday afternoon that stated that the team has “suspended Ja Morant for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.”
The suspension follows Morant’s postgame comments that were critical of the Grizzlies coaching staff after Friday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Go ask the coaching staff,” a visibly annoyed Morant said when asked what went wrong for him in the Grizzlies’ 117-112 loss to the Lakers.
“Go ask them. ... They had a whole spiel in here,” added Morant, motioning to the locker room.
Morant had just scored 8 points, shooting 3 for 14 from the floor and going scoreless in the second half, as Lakers star Luka Doncic scored 44 points.
Morant will miss Memphis’ game Sunday at Toronto.
