With Zach Edey’s return, the Memphis Grizzlies have overcome backcourt injuries to win with power. It’s not quite what head coach Tuomas Iisalo envisioned. 

The Grizzlies’ second-year center scored a career-high 32 points and celebrated the end of the Thanksgiving weekend by gobbling up 17 rebounds.

Edey recorded his third double-double of the season in 29 minutes, shooting 16 of 20 from the floor.

The Grizzlies pulled away with a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey on the bench. But it was those two players who brought home the win.

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey left Monday’s game against Denver, but not due to injury.

Center Zach Edey played less than six minutes. Memphis coach Tuomas Iisalo said after the game that Edey got hit in the head and was unable to return.

While the Memphis Grizzlies haven’t said so, it appears that Ja Morant will be out at least two more weeks with the right calf strain he suffered on Nov. 15 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

Morant, who missed his third straight game with a calf injury, and Thompson, who missed a game-tying 3-point attempt with 20 seconds left in the game, exchanged words at the conclusion of the game in Dallas.

While still playing on a minutes restriction in his fourth game back from offseason ankle surgery, Zach Edey had a double-double, with 12 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks in 26 minutes.
