Memphis Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman kept his comments brief Saturday morning as he addressed the firing of Coach Taylor Jenkins.

Taylor Jenkins took the Grizzlies further than many would have expected, but it was time for the franchise to move on.

Who is Tuomas Iisalo, the Grizzlies’ new interim coach?

Now new-this-season lead assistant turned interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo will take the reins, at least through the rest of this season and the playoffs.

Under Tuomas Iisalo, it’s likely the Grizzlies are going to use more pick-and-roll. 

In total, the Grizzlies had a 250-214 overall record during Jenkins’ six seasons in charge, but only one playoff series win, coming against the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2022.

Oklahoma’s scoring runs and relentless defense were too much for Memphis, which had kept the game close until the fourth quarter.
