First installment of a three-part series on the journey of Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr., affectionately known as “Trip.”

After helping the Grizzlies to a three-point win over the Milwaukee Bucks on the second half of a back-to-back Thursday night, Williams took an 11:30 p.m. flight to Indianapolis for the NBA All-Star weekend.

Chris Herrington provides five observations on the week as the Grizzlies head into the NBA All-Star break.

GG Jackson and Ziaire Williams combined for 54 points in a win over the Bucks on Thursday night, holding off Giannis Antetokounmpo in the final minutes.

Drew Hill and Chris Herrington discuss the past and future on the wing for the Memphis Grizzlies. 

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Jake LaRavia and Ziaire Williams have to acknowledge the accomplishments of their peers on the wing. But he wants them to seize the moment, too. 

Jackson’s valentines were less Forget-Me-Not than Forgive-Me. But he led the Grizzlies to a surprising win over the Houston Rockets.

Dillon Brooks told the Houston Chronicle in December that he was the girlfriend that the Grizzlies still missed. But Memphis has a new heartthrob. His name is GG Jackson.

This weekend’s Rising Stars event serves as a good excuse to weigh the emergence of Vince Williams Jr. and GG Jackson against the rest of their respective draft classes.

Jake LaRavia has played in just 11 games this season. Will he get healthy in time for a chance to prove he can be part of Memphis’ long-term depth?

Chuck Gallina’s mother, Mimi, has Alzheimer’s disease, but he still takes her to all the Memphis Grizzlies’ home games. And, even during this lost NBA season, those games have come to mean something more to this family — and it can teach us all about love. 

A wraparound feed from Santi Aldama for a two-hand slam from Jaren Jackson Jr. brought the Grizzlies to within five points with a little more than three minutes to play, but that was as close as it would get.

Vince Williams Jr. was named as a replacement player in the Rising Stars event at NBA All-Star Weekend. 

Prior to his short stint in Phoenix, Goodwin played two seasons in Washington for the Wizards.

“There’s a ton of resources in Memphis that are yet to be tapped into,” Jarnell Stokes said. “I would like to see my city become an entertainment hub, that reaches far beyond just basketball and hip-hop.”

Max Strus applauded Memphis assistant coach Anthony Carter for helping him find his place in the NBA. He believes Carter could have the same impact on the Grizzlies’ young players. 

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored a game-high 29 points, including five made 3-pointers and two blocks, but it was not enough to prevent an eighth straight loss.
