Memphis’ 2023-24 men’s basketball schedule is complete.
The AAC released full conference schedules for all of its teams Friday morning, more than two months after the conference announced its schedule pairings in late July. Tip times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
Each team in the new-look, 14-team AAC will play 18 conference games. Ten of those games will be home-and-home series, four will be home-only matchups and four will be away-only contests.
Memphis’ conference slate is highlighted by two matchups against Florida Atlantic, which beat the Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season in dramatic fashion before making a run to the Final Four. Coach Penny Hardaway’s squad will host FAU at FedExForum on Feb. 25 before traveling to Boca Raton, Florida, for a regular-season finale versus the Owls on March 9.
FAU will be in its first season in the AAC, joining UAB, North Texas, UTSA, Charlotte and Rice as new members after Houston, Cincinnati and UCF left for the Big 12 this offseason.
The Tigers’ two games versus Tulane and UAB should also be intriguing.
Memphis fell to Tulane twice in the regular season last season — including once at home in overtime — before routing the Green Wave by 40 points in the AAC Tournament. The Tigers will face Tulane on the road in New Orleans on Jan. 21 before hosting the Green Wave at FedExForum on Feb. 11.
Memphis also has the chance to reignite its old rivalry with UAB this season. The Tigers and Blazers are reunited as conference mates for the first time since 2013, when both were members of Conference USA. The two had been members of the same conference from 1991 to 2013 before Memphis departed for the AAC.
The Tigers will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to face UAB on the road on Jan. 28 before hosting the Blazers at FedExForum on March 3.
Hardaway, in Year 6 at the helm, will look to build upon a 2022-23 campaign in which his team finished 26-9 (13-5 AAC), won an AAC Tournament title and made the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
