Tyrese Hunter ‘playing in the moment’ as he leads Memphis to Maui title game
Memphis Tigeres guard Tyrese Hunter shoots against Michigan State guard Jase Richardson, left, and draws a foul at the Maui Invitational Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, in Lahaina, Hawaii. The four-point play expanded the Memphis lead to 11 with 4:33 on the clock. (Lindsey Wasson/AP)
Though the story surrounding Memphis ahead of its trip to Hawaii was the play of PJ Haggerty, it’s Tyrese Hunter who’s been the surprise star for coach Penny Hardaway’s group through two games in Maui.
