What to watch in Memphis’ AAC opener against Florida Atlantic

Perhaps more so than ever before, it will be now when Memphis shows what it’s truly made of.
The No. 21 Tigers (10-3) finished a nonconference schedule ranked the fourth-toughest in the country by KenPom with 10 wins and more Quadrant 1 and 2 wins combined (eight) than any team nationally.
But can the team stay engaged through a rather mundane 18-game American Athletic Conference slate to avoid damaging its NCAA Tournament resume with unnecessary slipups? That question will begin to get answered when the Tigers open AAC play against Florida Atlantic on Thursday (6 p.m. CST, ESPN2) in Boca Raton, Florida.
