With microphones and recorders in his face for the first time in nearly two months, Penny Hardaway appeared relaxed.

“It’s different every year — you have a different group,” Hardaway said Tuesday evening after the first of Memphis Athletics’ Tigers on Tour fan event series at Owners Box Sports Grill in Lakeland. “And this group is special in its own way. Last year’s group won 29 games and won some big games. 

“You think you can’t top that, but then you get talent in like (the type we got) this year and you go, ‘All right, let’s see what this group’s gonna do.’”
