A little more than 24 hours after his Memphis basketball team took one of its most disappointing losses of the season, Penny Hardaway walked onto the makeshift stage at Brookhaven Pub & Grill as many clad in blue and gray applauded.

A sizable number of fans showed up Monday night to support the coach during his weekly Penny Hardaway Radio Show just a day removed from a 89-78 wire-to-wire loss to Florida Atlantic that dropped the Tigers (7-8, 2-1 American Conference) below .500 yet again.

“(That) was a really bad game all around from a hustle standpoint,” Hardaway said to the crowd. “I appreciate you guys showing up tonight, but that was just totally unacceptable yesterday.”
