What to watch when Memphis faces UAB on the road

By , Daily Memphian Published: February 04, 2026 12:00 PM CT

The Memphis Tigers must stabilize themselves — and quickly.

A 78-76 loss to Tulane on Sunday at FedExForum — one of the worst home losses of coach Penny Hardaway’s seven-plus-season tenure — marked Memphis’ third defeat in its past four games and dropped it into a three-way tie for sixth place in the American Conference.

If the Tigers (10-11, 5-4 American) are going to avoid a complete free fall, they’ll need to find a way to beat UAB on Thursday (8 p.m., ESPN2) at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.
